Welcome to IDEAS

On Sunday August 24th, please join IDEAS in cheering on Jonathan Caron and John O’Shaughnessy as they race in Ironman Canada in Pentiction, BC. If you don’t live in Penticton, you can watch the race online. Both athletes participate in IDEAS School Talks program, and John is one of our board members. Good luck to them both!

adideas.jpg IDEAS envisions a society free from stigma associated with intestinal disease. We believe education and awareness is the most effective way to accomplish this goal. To that end, IDEAS has created this website as a directory for information on intestinal disease available on the internet. There is a wide range of information available to you throughout this site. Whenever possible, we’ve linked directly to other excellent sources. Most sites have specific audiences–medical professionals, insurance providers, patients etc–but few are written for general audiences; because of this, we have written plain language descriptions of complex programs and information to make that information more accessible to you.

One unique feature is our section on Canadian health care reimbursement programs offered through the provincial and federal governments. This is the only website that offers comprehensive Pharmacare and Aids to Daily Living program information in one location. You can use this interactive, map-based feature to learn about the programs available to you in your own province or to learn about other programs available to intestinal disease patients and ostomates across Canada. Take some time to explore what is available across Canada.

IDEAS believes that Canadians should have equal access to ostomy products and medications regardless of where they live. If you know a child or teen with intestinal disease, you can also check out iDEASKiDS for more information.

Until there’s a cure, we need IDEAS.
